The tariff system

The tariff area for the mona standard tariff covers the area of the district of Oberallgäu with the independent town of Kempten and Kleinwalsertal. The neighboring areas, such as Jungholz and Hittisau, are also included.

Adults Adults Adults The mona multi-journey ticket is a 10-journey ticket where the passenger only has to pay for 7 journeys for 10 individual journeys. The multi-journey ticket is unlimited in time. The multi-journey ticket is transferable. The multiple-journey ticket can also be used by several people at the same time against corresponding validation of the individual journeys (from 1 to 10). In the event of a fare change, the validity of previously purchased 10-journey tickets ends 3 months after the fare change comes into effect. The fare and transportation regulations of mona GmbH apply, as well as the specific transportation and fare conditions of the individual transportation companies.

The Fare System
The area for mona's unified fare covers the Oberallgäu district, including the independent city of Kempten and the Kleinwalsertal valley. Adjacent areas, such as Jungholz and Hittisau, are also included.

For routes extending beyond the mona fare zone (e.g., Leutkirch, Isny), the mona connecting fare ("AT") or a special fare applies. The affected zones are specially marked on the fare zone map.

The fare is calculated based on the number of “honeycombs” traveled through. The honeycomb in which the journey begins counts as the first zone. Each time a honeycomb boundary is crossed, an additional fare zone is charged.
There are 8 fare levels = 8 honeycombs traveled through.
If more than 8 honeycombs are traveled through, the fare for the 8th fare level applies.
The city of Kempten forms its own zone with the mona Citytarif (Honeycomb 913) and the mona Citytarif Plus (Honeycomb 13).
The assignment of stops to fare zones is determined by the honeycomb map and the list of stops.
All season tickets valid for one week or longer and within the mona area have network validity: On weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until the end of service. On weekends from 4:00 a.m. until the end of service.

Passengers with a disabled person's pass and a valid “G” token ride for free. An accompanying person may also ride for free, provided they accompany the passenger for the entire trip and the letter “B” is also entered on the passenger’s disabled person’s pass. The disabled person's ID card and the token must be presented to the bus driver at the start of the trip without being asked. Alternatively, eligible passengers can use an ID card to validate each trip themselves at the ticket validator. This chip card is available upon presentation of the disabled person's ID card and the valid token and is valid only in Germany (exception: Kleinwalsertal).

There is generally no obligation to transport bicycles. However, subject to operational constraints, bicycles may be transported for a fee.
Only bicycles with pedal assistance provided by an electric motor up to 25 km/h (not subject to registration, with a motor power of up to 250 watts) are permitted.
Bicycles are not transported on city buses (Stadtbus Kempten) or on services operated by minibuses, route taxis, or shared taxis.
The fare for transporting bicycles is specified in the currently valid fare schedule (price list) or in the fare booklet.
